Beach · Kenya
Malindi is one of Kenya's oldest coastal towns, with a long history of trade along the Indian Ocean. Its wide beaches, relaxed pace and mix of Swahili, Arab and Italian influences make it a pleasant beach stay.
Malindi Marine National Park, the oldest marine park in Africa, offers snorkelling and glass-bottom boat trips over coral gardens. Landmarks include the Vasco da Gama Pillar, a 15th-century monument, and the Portuguese chapel. The Sabaki River mouth attracts many bird species, and Watamu lies a short drive to the south.
Malindi has an airport with domestic connections, which makes it a convenient end point for a safari followed by time on the coast.
October to March and June to September are the driest months with calm seas. The long rains of April and May bring heavy downpours.
We do not have a published safari for Malindi yet. Tell us your plans and we will build one.
