Serengeti
Endless plains, year-round big cat sightings and the Great Migration in Tanzania's most famous national park.
Baobabs & Elephants
Tarangire National Park lies south of Lake Manyara and is known for its ancient baobab trees and the largest elephant herds in northern Tanzania. During the dry season, the Tarangire River is one of the few reliable water sources in the region, and wildlife from the surrounding plains gathers along its banks.
Besides elephants, visitors can see lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, impala and the rare fringe-eared oryx and gerenuk. The park also supports more than 500 bird species, including large flocks of migrants during the wet season.
Tarangire is a natural first stop on the northern circuit and is often paired with Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti.
June to October gives the best game viewing, when animals gather along the river. November to May is greener, with excellent birdlife and fewer vehicles.
We do not have a published safari for Tarangire yet. Tell us your plans and we will build one.
